ESS Board Members attend Park Pride event
On March 25th, Environment Sandy Springs board members Jim Newbury and Janet Wells attended the 2024 Parks and Greenspace Conference at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. The event was organized by Park Pride (parkpride.org) and sponsored by Cox Enterprises. Janet and Jim were invited to the event by Juliet Cohen of Cox, a Sandy Springs company that is collaborating with ESS on a grassland restoration project.
The theme of this year’s event was, “Parks for All: Intention to Action”.
The all-day event featured four informative presentations and morning and afternoon breakout sessions. The event provided a great networking opportunity for Jim and Janet to meet others working to preserve greenspace for everyone.
“Equity and access for all means listening intently to understand what truly engages the underserved. It is about building relationships that create an authentic connection and real benefits,” said Jim Newbury, ESS Board President.
Janet Wells, ESS Development Director, said, “Development projects can’t be at the cost of the community and the natural world, and parks must work with affordable housing too.”
The Environment Sandy Springs Board extends it’s gratitude to Cox for the invitation to this event.
