Volunteers make progress on invasive plants at Big Trees Forest Preserve
We had an awesome volunteer event on April 2nd at Big Trees Forest Preserve.
ESS facilitated the event, coordinating with stakeholders including The City of Sandy Springs, Cox Enterprises, Big Trees Forest Preserve and the Sandy Springs Eco Stewards. ESS also contracted EcoAddendum to provide their professional services in guiding and teaching our volunteers. Thank you Kathryn and Dajawn!
ESS provided coffee and snacks and Cox Enterprises purchased our water cooler and work gloves for the entire group. And they provided lunch!
Fun was had by all. And many commented that they learned things they can apply right in their own backyards.
And last but not least we are also grateful to all the volunteers who participated in the event. Volunteers worked on removing invasive plants like Chinese privet, Elaeagnus shrubs, English ivy; and aggressive cherry laurel.
The next event is Thursday, April 17th from 9 AM to noon, the location is TBD. Volunteers should wear sturdy, close-toed shoes (preferably boots) and bring work gloves if you have them. Contact ESS President Jim Newbury for more information: newbury.jim@gmail.com (404) 791-3394.
